3rdi I presents Bollywood Sound & Image:
A multi-layered discussion with Robin Sukhadia

The first in the series of 3rd I’s upcoming seminars on music in Indian cinema begins Wednesday, May 28th (future seminars scheduled for June 11 and July 9).

3rd I proudly presents a three-part series of seminars focused on the sound and music of Bollywood throughout the decades. First up will be a program of music videos and clips from Bollywood films projected on the big screen, with historical/political insights and performance demonstrations by Robin Sukhadia.

Robin most recently completed his Master of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts. He has been studying the tabla under Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri at CalArts and the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California for the past seven years. His special focus on the musical traditions and rhythms of South Asia informs his approach to musical arrangement and composition on a wide range of concert, film and album productions.

Learn about Bollywood’s famed film composers, playback singers, arrangers, and it’s steeped-with-glamour musical history. We promise song and dance, whimsical musical arrangements, gaudy colors and melodramatic love scenes -- all of this, of course, without any kissing on screen! Bring the kids!
